Song of the Day: February 26

February 26:  Hi-de-hi-de-hi-de-hi… “Minnie The Moocher” by Cab Calloway, Irving Mills and Clarence Gaskill and performed here by Cab Calloway and his band.  My grandfather Sydney Alexander Sherman was born on this day in 1908, two months after Cab Calloway was born.  I like to imagine my grandfather in his early 20s listening to this back in 1931.  No lyric video today, but, if – after echoing Cab – you want more, here’s a KARAOKE VIDEO so that you can sing along. 1. My aunt, mother’s sister, Juanita J. Fossett was born in 1931. In fact, March 2 is next week. Aunt Juanita’s been dead for 30 years.
